MacGyver Solutions

Problem: Public schools, funded by my tax dollars and yours, are more and more violent as students exhibit less and less moral character, and it's where teachers are less and less effective.
Solution? Homeschooling, but not what you're thinking. Imagine a video game that you can play at home and it will help you in all areas of life, because of its variety of programs and options. Imagine all your memories of your childhood in the palms of your hands. Now imagine your children having the ability to avoid experiencing (in real life) all the negative that you endured, and to be able to graduate with top scores in games such as confidence, character, class, as well as argument, politics, and economics -- maybe even cooking. There would be no way to get higher scores than your "classmates" aka neighborhood friends if you didn't study and take tests until you knew the right answers. There would be no cutting up in class because there would be no class to cut up in and it just might bring your score down X number of points, which affects your bragging rights at recess.
Problem: Many adults avoid interaction with strangers like the plague, yet it is inevitable in order to get a job, get a girlfriend, etc.
Solution: Imagine a video game for seniors in high school, where you were given a city to live in, temporary income, and temporary housing with a minimal time frame to find a source of earning income, move into an apartment, and begin to live independently. Imagine being able to rob a bank, buy a car, flirt at the grocery store, etc., with no emotional or physical consequences, only a chance to learn what works and what doesn't without heartache. It's like the Sims meets GTA meets the love connection, and through such a game the player can learn and develop people skills, learn what to say on a first date and what not to say, take a job interview, or start their own business (eventually) in the real world. With the same rules that apply in the real world, the player will also have the choice to locate illegal substances and suppliers, become a user or supplier, and, if the game is continued, experience the consequences. In such a game, the player might also be able to act as the lawyer upon being caught, arrested, and charged.
Problem: America is going down the tubes. Solution: Supply its youth with education via their favorite entertainment systems, make it more fun to play than anything to date, and allow for updates.

So the President is going to address the nation on Monday concerning the disease of illegal immigration, and what we are going to try as a solution to this problem. I wonder if the Republicans are hoping that immediate acts will be taken to seal the cracks in our border patrol, which will result in higher approval ratings for the President in the polls. I wonder if Democrats are hoping that the President will not do anything productive to appease the nation, so that his approval ratings will go down.
Life is pretty predictable. It's definitely circular. There is an infinite number of circles, which adds up to "life". Once you've made a full loop it's easy to see. It's easy to take a mental note of consecutive events, and notice the same pattern the next time it comes around. That's easy. The hard part about "life" is that you have to prepare for future circles -- or else convince yourself that they won't repeat. But if you've ever been to the beach and gotten in the ocean, you'll remember that the waves come in no matter how old you are, what color your skin is, who your husband is, who your daddy is, etc. Nature is what it is whether you've been good all year or not. Whether it makes you happy or takes your life is irrelevant -- it just is; it exists. If you get in the way of a tornado just to get a rush or just to make an incredible news report, that's the chance you're willing to take. Hurricanes have no agendas or vendettas. If you build housing in their path, my money is on the hurricane -- no offense to Katrina victims.
Nature is wild and uncontrolled and uninhibited, and that's what most of us are drawn to. That's why we go to the beach, or go skiing (water or snow?), or sit on the back porch and watch the rain with our grandparents. I slipped "(water or snow?)" in there for a reason, and I need your response to this question: When you first read over the words and got the images of water skiing and snow skiing, which one appealed to you more? The reason I ask that is because most people have a preference of which type of "Nature" they like the best, even though Nature doesn't care if you like it or not.
MacGyver's Solution:
We vote for people to represent the rest of us, to be in charge, to provide for our safety, to maintain our borders, etc., so we should have faith that whatever they decide to do while in office is going to be in our best interest. That's why I am a strong advocate of voting -- because I want to make sure the RIGHT people get into office because I know we think alike and would make decisions on most matters alike, so I won't have to worry about it. We have to trust that their decisions are thought out, are long-term, and is the best choice of action for the betterment of the nation as a whole. That being my mindset, I can get into my jeep and go out into Nature to "live" for a few days, or just to relax, or perhaps a week or two of exploring the birds and bees on a private island ....

Question 1:
What is the most valuable piece of information you learned thus far in your life? that if your grandkids were standing beside your death bed, you would make sure you passed on this knowledge to assist them on their journey and keep them on the path that leads to a happy ending?
Question 2:
If we are born with only the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises, what is it that parents are doing -- and should discontinue doing -- to their children to instill the number one fear of most adults, which is public speaking?
Question 3:
If freedom of the choice of religions cannot include things that go against the current law, like polygamy or "drug" use, then should the religions adapt to fit and adhere to the laws, or should the laws be changed to accommodate the more "liberal" practices by individuals of new-age religions?

Democrats and Republicans are so divided in this nation on nearly every issue. In what year will the American Civil War II take place? A war, by the way, which the survivors' grandkids will one day read about in their history books. But if things continue on a path which can be defined as the complete opposite of unity, then a war it will be. The Democrats will go after known Republicans, the Republicans will target known Democrats, and whoever gets tired of the bloodshed first will "lose". There's two ways to prepare for it: 1) stock up on ammunition and fatigues. 2) take some form of a controlled drug to distort and alter your perception of reality.
Jesus said it: a house divided cannot stand. And He wasn't talking about Carolina-Clemson day in South Carolina. So what will be the result? Well, if you think like MacGyver, you'll survive. I believe the woman said, "Don't tell me you know how to make a bomb out of a stick of chewing gum?" and his response was, "Why -- you got some?" Now that kind of knowledge is priceless. I guess for everything else there's credit cards.

Was MacGyver a Republican or a Democrat?
Hard to say -- he wants to help everyone, but he thinks people should earn what they get too.
To find out for sure, we might need to look at the back of his Jeep to check for bumper stickers. He might not have had bumper stickers because they are bad for the environment. And they are made by children in 3rd world countries.
Hmmmm. He didn't approve of war, the use of guns, or just violence in general. But at the same time, he could make a bomb out of everything if he got cornered.
The world may never know. What are your thoughts?
